Automating Crop Protection: How Smart SOROB Sprayers Are Changing the Way We Farm.

Jun 23, 2026

Modern agriculture is on the threshold of a global technological transformation. Traditional methods of cultivating fields and orchards, relying on heavy, manned equipment and manual labor, are gradually giving way to autonomous solutions. With rising prices for crop protection products (PPP), a shortage of qualified personnel, and severe climate challenges, automation is becoming not just a trend, but an economic imperative.

Responding to market demands, SINOSO has developed its flagship line of unmanned robotic sprayers, the SOROB. These autonomous systems are designed specifically for the highly precise, safe, and cost-effective protection of intensive orchards, vineyards, and berry plantations.

In this article, we'll explore the models in the SOROB line and why their implementation can radically transform the economics of your farm.

Every farm is unique—crop type, row spacing, and terrain dictate specific equipment requirements. The SINOSO SOROB line includes several models optimized for specific operational tasks:

The SOROB 200 is a compact and maneuverable robot, ideal for working in young orchards, greenhouses, and vineyards with narrow row spacings. Its lightweight chassis minimizes soil compaction.

The SOROB 300C is a versatile workhorse for intensive gardening. It features an optimized airflow distribution system that ensures deep droplet penetration, even in dense tree canopies.

The SOROB 400G is a powerful system with an increased tank capacity for large-scale farms. It is designed for continuous, long-term operation over large areas requiring high productivity.

1. Centimeter-level positioning accuracy

The navigation of SOROB robots is based on the synergy of satellite systems (RTK-GNSS), laser lidar (LiDAR), and machine vision.

What does this mean? The robot follows a predetermined path with an accuracy of 2-3 centimeters. It accurately navigates between rows, automatically turns at the end of a row, and carefully avoids obstacles (forgotten equipment, fallen branches, or people). Errors due to tractor driver fatigue are eliminated: the robot works equally accurately both at midday and late at night.

2. Drastic savings on chemicals and resources

Traditional spraying often suffers from "blind" spraying, which leads to overuse of expensive products and excessive pesticide load on the soil. SOROB solves this problem through intelligent spray fan control.

Smart application: The robot's sensors detect the presence, density, and height of the forage in real time. If there's a gap in a row (a dead or missing tree), the system immediately shuts off the nozzles in that area. Thanks to targeted spraying and optimal droplet size, savings on plant protection products and water reach 30–45%, directly reducing the cost of the finished product.

3. Absolute operator safety (Zero Hazard Concept)

Working with pesticides and herbicides always poses a high risk to human health. Even modern tractor cabins with filtration do not guarantee 100% protection for the operator during long shifts.

Remote control: Implementing SOROB completely removes the operator from the danger zone. The operator becomes an interface operator. From a safe distance (or even in the office), one specialist can remotely monitor the operation of several robots via a tablet or smartphone, monitoring the battery level, remaining liquid in the tank, and the operator's trajectory.
